New Delhi (HS): Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has refused to cancel the bail granted to Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, accused in the railway tender scam case. The court directed Tejashwi Yadav to speak publicly in the future. Special Judge Geetanjali Goel gave this order.
Tejashwi Yadav appeared in Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday and opposed the CBI demand to cancel the bail granted in the railway tender scam case. During the hearing, advocate Maninder Singh, appearing for Tejashwi Yadav, said that the things that were said in the press conference on behalf of Tejashwi Yadav were in reference to another. He discussed many political matters and scams etc.
Tejashwi Yadav was the leader of the opposition party during that time. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also made such statements when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. On this, the court asked Tejashwi Yadav to be careful while making further public statements. The court said that we are not cancelling the bail.
The CBI had alleged that Tejashwi Yadav had allegedly threatened CBI officials by holding a press conference in August, this is likely to affect the case. The CBI had sought cancellation of bail granted to Tejashwi Yadav in the railway tender scam case.
The court had granted regular bail to Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav in the case registered by the ED on January 28, 2019. The court had granted bail on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh each. On January 19, 2019, the court had granted regular bail to Lalu Yadav in the case registered by the CBI. The court had granted bail to Lalu Yadav on a surety of ₹1 lakh. In this case 16 people including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi have been made accused.
The ED has accused Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, M/s Lara Project LLP, Sarla Gupta, Premchand Gupta, Gaurav Gupta, Nath Mal Kakrania, Rahul Yadav, Vijay Tripathi, Devki Nandan Tulsyan, M/s Sujata Hotel, Vinay Kochhar, Rajeev Kumar Relan and M/s Abhishek Finance Pvt. Ltd, Lalu Yadav is accused of transferring two railway hotels to IRCTC while being the Railway Minister and had issued tenders for the maintenance of the hotels. The allocation of two hotels in Ranchi and Puri was transferred to Sujata Hotels, the company of the Kochhar brothers.
