Ranchi, 2 November (HS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to Chief Minister Hemant Soren in an illegal stone mining case for questioning on November 3, at around 11:30 am at the ED office in the capital. The ED has written a letter to the Director General of Police urging him to make special arrangements for the security.
Earlier, the ED had questioned Abhishek, a close aide of the Chief Minister and raided the premises of the Chief Minister's MLA representative Pankaj Mishra. Pankaj Mishra is in jail in a money laundering case. ED officers may also interrogate some senior IAS and IPS officers in the coming days. It is noteworthy, the ED has told the special court that four accounts of Pankaj Mishra have been frozen. ₹83.98 lakh was deposited in these accounts. Unaccounted cash was deposited in these bank accounts during illegal mining.
On July 8 this year, raids were conducted on the premises of Pankaj Mishra. During this, the sealed envelope was recovered. It consists of a passbook and two signed cheque books. These include 31 blank checques from Bank of India, Gangaprasad branch. The passbook and cheque books belong to Hemant Soren.
In view of the summons sent to Soren, the ED has sought additional police force from the police headquarters to enhance security at its Hinoo Airport Road office. The ED has also sent a copy of the letter sent to the police headquarters to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
