Dr. Deependra Singh- Elected as the Chairman of Education Regulation Committee (ERC) for Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) New Delhi

He’s the first person from the Central India to be elected for the above post.

Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is a statutory body working under the Ministry of Health and F.W., Government of India, New Delhi.  It is constituted under the Pharmacy Act, 1948 and is responsible for regulation of pharmacy education for the purpose of registration as a pharmacist and practice of profession of pharmacy in the country. Recently newly elected body has taken charge with Dr. Montu Patel elected as the youngest president of Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) New Delhi.

Dr. Deependra Singh has been elected as the chairman of education regulation committee ERC, PCI for the first time from the central India. ERC is instrumental to bring rational reforms in the profession by introducing timely major changes in the curriculum relevant to current demands of Pharmacy profession subject to industry, hospital pharmacy, academia, clinical pharmacy etc. The vision of this new committee will be to amalgamate the indigenous and historical aspects of pharmacy with the new technological reforms. This will be a major breakthrough to acquaint the new generation with the ancient heritage of traditional medicine system with the newer perspective.

Dr. Singh is presently working at University Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (C.G.) India, one of the oldest and biggest universities in the state. He has around 19 years of teaching and research experience. He has published more than 95 research and review papers in national and international journals with h-index-28 and i10-index 81 with citations of more than 4154. He has 2 Indian and 2 International patents granted. He has completed several projects funded by UGC, AICTE, ICMR and DST. He is recipient of prestigious Department of health research-ICMR young Indian biomedical scientist award 2019, UGC RAMAN international award 2014 and UGC Research Award 2012-14 by university Grants Commission, New Delhi. He is among the top 2% list of scientists worldwide in the field of pharmacy and pharmacology surveyed by Stanford University in the year 2021, 2022. He also has number of prestigious awards at state level for excellence in research viz.; Young scientist award of the state of Chhattisgarh 2006 in medical sciences. He is state evaluator and mentor for national children science congress.

He has been recently elected as the Vice-President, Central Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) and Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association (IPGA). He has been to numerous countries for scientific and research collaborations such as National Center for Natural Products Research, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, Mississippi USA; School of medical sciences, Deakin University, Australia; AIMST University, Malaysia and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia.
